“Jochen, will you take us to the mountains?” There was no question that I would fulfill the wish of my two friends Michael Sucker and Erik Jansen – and because I knew that both had good stamina, I suggested the Monte Rosa traverse for their first mountain holiday. Sturm und Drang again, obviously…I still tip my hat to them that they succeeded in climbing ten 4000-meter peaks straight away, including Liskamm (4527 m) by the East Ridge, which is rated G4-G6, depending on source. We took a pass on Dufourspitze and Nordend, and descended from the Zumsteinspitze to Zermatt in one long day (including a swim in the Riffelsee). The taste of beer and salad in the first restaurant we encountered was unforgettable…
